We’re racing in a Pinewood Derby race this upcoming weekend as well. My son had decided to give up as the race was a week away before we started working on the car, but now…
Well, I played on his willingness to please me. I told him it was important to me that we do it together, and so he did. I’d say he handled about 40% of it himself, which when dealing with sharp toys is reasonable for a 9 year old. And now the car is cut, sanded, baked, and painted. We have to affix the wheels, add weights, paint the weights, and add stickers to finish it out. All perfectly doable in the few days we have left.
Speaking of my son, I think he’d really like running. I think all of us would enjoy him running as a way for him to dump a lot of energy early in the morning before going to school. Not that he doesn’t need energy for school, but does he really need that much to distract from learning?
And speaking of my daughter, she’s got this odd tooth. It’s a baby tooth that is being pushed horizontally by the tooth coming in behind it, and it’s not easy to pull. Very strange. We may have to schedule a visit to the dentist so s/he can get it out properly and quickly.
